Traces of Slavery

Traces of slavery: join the conversation and show your thoughts on 5 July

9:00 – 13:00, Janskerkhof 3, Utrecht

On 5 July, four days after Keti Koti, representatives of the Surinamese-Caribbean community, staff and students will discuss the research on slavery at UU, the University’s own part and the contemporary effects of the slavery past. Joyce Sylvester (State Commission against Discrimination and Racism) will provide an introduction and Migaisa Poeketi (Keti Koti Utrecht) will lead the dialogue. There will also be music, lunch and room to meet each other. The complete programme will be posted here.

We need your help!

Have you done research, a (research) question or other feelings around the topic of slavery past or colonialism? Then we would like you to share this with us via a poster that will be displayed during the event (we will arrange and pay fort he printing). The poster may be about research, a (research) question or your concerns on the topic of slavery history or colonialism. The design is up to you (text, just a quote, collage, etc. Tip: use Canva).
